There are multiple engineered methods to terminate wire rope, ranging from swage loops to thimbles to open or closed spelter sockets.  Detailed methodologies are discussed in technical resources such as US Navy NAVSEA/Sea System Command or OSHA technical resources (contact DCL if you want an electronic copy). Below,  DCL has illustrated the most common way to terminate wire rope and lists the code/acronym identities for each Fitting & Splice attachment along with the illustrations.

As a service, DCL can terminate any rope purchased  from us or customer-supplied rope to your specifications.  All fabricated slings are made by certified professionals and DCL can supply wire rope/wire rope slings to ABS, DNV-GL (or other) specifications per your requirements.
