Like any piece of mooring apparatus mooring chain has a proof and break load. Proof loads are the tension the anchor chain is pulled to to “proof” or certify the actual strength of any given chain, usually up to twice the normal working loads. Break loads are the expected minimal load that must be applied to a chain to actually break it and are higher than a proof load.
DCL can not only provide the proof and break loads for any chain made to ABS standards (and any other standard) but with our testing facilities, we can recertify your existing chain. Contact DCL to inquire about our testing and recertification services for all rigging and mooring hardware.
